On Sunday 5th March 2023, the Birmingham Crisis centre charity founder, past chairman and now our late president, sadly passed away after a prolonged illness. John Ankcorn MBE served the charity since 1984 and was instrumental in securing a contract with the local authority to provide a safe haven refuge centre for women and children victims of domestic abuse.
John with his wife, Lyn, raised thousands of pounds over the years , forever increasing the charity profile and providing many friends and fundraisers. His legacy is leaving a very secure and successful charity, building a bespoke Ofsted inspected onsite nursery which provides respite for the mothers and excellent educational activities for all the children from babies up to 16yrs of age.
